Professional Packing Services in Victoria, BC
Packing is usually the most time-consuming part of any move — and the part people most often underestimate. Done well, it protects everything you own and makes unpacking straightforward. Done quickly under pressure, it leads to damage, lost items, and boxes that make no sense when you get to the other end.
At ABE Moving, we’ve offered professional packing services alongside our moving services since 2005. Our crew uses proper materials, proven techniques, and a systematic approach so that everything arrives the way it left — intact, labeled, and organized by room.
Full Packing vs. Partial Packing
We offer two packing approaches. Both can be added to any ABE move, or booked as standalone packing-only services if you have another arrangement for the move itself.
Full Packing Service
Our crew comes in and packs your entire home — every room, every item — before moving day. This is the right choice when time is short, when there are fragile or specialty items that need professional handling, or when the physical work of packing simply isn’t manageable. We supply all materials: boxes of every size, dish barrels, mirror boxes, wardrobe boxes, bubble wrap, packing paper, and tape.
Partial Packing Service
We pack the items you specify — often the kitchen, the fragile items, or a specific room — while you handle the rest. This is a popular option for people who want to stay involved in the process but need professional help with the more difficult or delicate parts. We’ll agree on exactly what’s being packed before we start.
What Our Packing Service Includes
All ABE Moving packing services use the right materials for each item type:
- Furniture: Moving blankets and shrink wrap on every upholstered and wood piece. Foam padding at corners and stress points. Never tape applied directly to finished wood surfaces.
- Dishes, glasses, and china: Individually wrapped in packing paper, packed in reinforced dish barrel boxes with cushioning between each layer. Glasses go rim-down. No two pieces touch each other directly.
- Artwork and framed photos: Mirror boxes or custom-padded containers. “This Side Up” marked clearly. Handled separately from general boxes on the truck.
- Clothing: Wardrobe boxes keep hanging clothes on hangers — no folding, no wrinkling, ready to hang at the other end.
- Electronics: Original packaging if available; otherwise foam padding and double-boxing for screens and devices. All cables kept with their device.
- Books and heavy items: Small boxes only — properly weighted so boxes can be safely lifted and stacked.
Every box is labeled with its contents and destination room. This makes our unpacking fast and straightforward — you can find what you need on day one without opening everything.
Can you pack fragile or high-value items like antiques?
Yes — and we take extra care with them. Antiques, heirlooms, fine art, and collectibles receive specialized wrapping materials and individual handling. For genuinely irreplaceable pieces, we’ll discuss the best approach with you before we start, and we carry insurance coverage on all items we pack and move. For a detailed guide to moving antiques and heirlooms, see our article How to Pack Antiques and Family Heirlooms for a Move in Victoria BC.

When Professional Packing Makes the Most Sense

- Seniors moving where sorting and packing a lifetime of belongings requires time and careful handling of sentimental items
- Students who are moving out during exam season and don’t have time to pack properly
- Long-distance moves to Vancouver or Calgary where items need to survive a longer transit and packing quality matters more
- Busy families who are managing work, childcare, and a move at the same time
- Anyone moving a home with significant fragile, antique, or high-value items

FAQs
How much does professional packing cost in Victoria, BC?
Packing is billed at an hourly crew rate plus the cost of materials (boxes, wrap, paper, tape). For a 1–2 bedroom home, partial packing typically adds $150–$400. Full packing for a 2–3 bedroom home generally runs $400–$900 in labour plus materials. We quote packing separately so you can see exactly what it adds before you commit. Call us or request an estimate online for an accurate figure for your home.
Do I need to be home while the packing crew works?
We strongly recommend it, especially for the first time we pack for you. You’ll need to make decisions — what gets packed, what gets set aside, which boxes go to which room. If you can’t be present throughout, a trusted family member or friend can oversee the process. For seniors or clients with specific needs, we’ll do a walkthrough together before the crew starts so everyone is clear on the plan.
How do you pack dishes and fragile kitchen items?
Every dish, glass, and fragile kitchen item is wrapped individually in packing paper before going into a reinforced dish barrel box. Glasses go rim-down with crumpled paper inside the cup. We put a layer of cushioning between each row. Nothing touches anything else directly. The box is packed to weight — not overfilled — and labeled “Fragile” and “Kitchen” on multiple sides.
Can I pack some things myself and have you pack the rest?
Yes — that’s exactly what our partial packing service is for. Many clients pack books, clothes, and non-fragile items themselves, then have us handle the kitchen, artwork, and anything delicate or valuable. We’re flexible. You tell us what you want packed professionally, we agree on a scope, and we quote it accordingly. There’s no minimum.
